University of Latvia (LU) with 14 000 students, 13 faculties, and 20 research institutes is one of the largest comprehensive research and educational institutions in the Baltic States. LU Department of Science and Department of Communication and Innovations offer industrial research services for business, support for start-ups, technological expertise, a database of research infrastructure and scientific competencies, technology transfer consultancy, technology offers for the market, support in licensing and protection of intellectual property and commercialization.
LU Student Business incubator provides several support activities for students: start-up building process, FabLab prototyping workshop with access to 3D printer, MasterMind meetings with entrepreneurs, and experts, as well as, grants and stipends for the best teams.
“The University incubator” as joint activity between the University of Latvia and Riga Technical University offers a 12-week program for teams working on STEM-based ideas. Participants can receive grants and stipends for testing and developing their business ideas.
